Greetings Partners and Friends of Spain,
The past three years of preparing and coming overseas to serve as lights in a dark country have been full of ups and downs. We have shared with you our joys and concerns through our monthly newsletters, weekly blog updates, and occasional phone calls. We truly couldn’t be here without you! As we have shared many times, we are ALL called to missions. We can’t all pick up and move halfway around the world, but for those of us who have done so, it is our privilege to present our requests before you, the church, so that you can be in prayer and give as you are able to the work that is taking place here in Spain.
We have seen the church in Madrid grow from four adults and two children to thirty-five adults and ten children in the past year and a half. Sixteen individuals have committed to following Christ; nine have been baptized, while others are attending discipleship and baptism classes. Our sister church in Lanzarote, Canary Islands, has been growing, and new groups are expressing interest in joining with the Free Methodist Church
here in Spain. Yes, God has been good to us! As we look back on what God has done we can tell you that it has not come without a cost. With the Spanish economy entering into a recession, and the American one not far behind, we understand the value of a dollar and the importance of investing money wisely in causes that truly matter.
Because the work here is growing faster than we ever imagined, we would like to make a special appeal to you. Spain's Country Share Account (CSA) currently stands at 34% supported for the 2008 year. This means we still need $25,000. The Country Share Account covers many areas of ministry, such as: rent, utilities, leadership development, church planting, and more. (Please note that the CSA is a separate account from our personal support, which goes to a Missionary Support Account, or MSA.) In Spain we are required to have a facility to operate as a church. We recently celebrated fulfilling all the requirements of the Spanish government to operate as an official church. In order to continue uninterrupted with the ministry in Spain, we need to have the total of this amount sent or committed before October 1, 2008. We need your help! By “purchasing” Spanish country shares, you are investing in the lives of people you may never meet this side of heaven, but will yield eternal returns! In a day and age when stock markets are crashing all around the globe, this is one investment that can only increase in value. God Himself promises that His word will not return void!
Without these funds we run the risk of losing the ministry center which serves as both the church building and the venue for many community activities such as English classes and movie nights. We know that the Lord will provide, and perhaps He wants to do it with your help. Understand that no amount is too small in God’s economy! Remember the loaves and fishes! Thank you for investing in the work in Spain! It is our privilege to serve the Lord and represent you here. Please continue to pray for us as we seek the Lord’s leading and enabling in serving Him here in Madrid.

I just sent an online donation. May God multiply it and supply the church's needs. -- Jim
